OVERVIEW
Supashock Street & Track Series Performance Coilovers offer the perfect combination of track orientation and street-friendly ride quality, the benchmark for performance drivers. Supashock engineers balance the optimal spring rate with damping force to give you the most responsive and accurate handling performance coilovers for your vehicle.
The Nissan Maxima is a midsize sedan produced by Nissan that has gone through many changes over the years. It is known for its sporty and upscale design, as well as its performance-oriented driving characteristics. It is often marketed as a "four-door sports car" due to its handling and acceleration capabilities.
With Supashock’s Nissan Maxima coilovers, you can enhance both the performance and ride quality of your vehicle with features such as adjustable suspension and raised or lowered ride height – all without compromising what makes your Nissan Maxima such a versatile vehicle.
What stock suspension does the different models of Nissan Maxima A31-A36 come with (and why is it worth switching out)?
The Nissan Maxima A31-A36 models were equipped with a MacPherson front strut suspension and a multi-link independent rear suspension.
While the stock suspension of the Maxima is decent for daily driving, it may not be optimised for performance or handling in more spirited driving scenarios. Switching to an aftermarket suspension system, such as coilovers, can provide better handling and control during cornering, as well as enhanced vehicle dynamics. Additionally, aftermarket suspension systems can be adjusted to suit the driver's preferred driving style and needs.
INVERTED MONOTUBE COILOVER DESIGN
Your Nissan Maxima has a MacPherson strut set up. You will see the option to choose Supashock’s Inverted Monotube Coilover configuration for your vehicle. Please note, some vehicles have MacPherson struts front and rear, some only at one end.
Supashock strongly recommends selecting the Inverted Monotube Coilover option for your vehicle where available, for several reasons:
- The lateral force experienced by the damper is exerted on the outer cylinder, rather than the damper shaft, piston, and their seals. The result is greater overall rigidity, resistance to bending and less susceptibility to damage than standard design coilovers.
- Monotube configuration of the inverted coilover offers greater piston area, oil capacity and separation of oil and gas. This configuration offers consistent and tuneable damping in comparison to a twin-tube damper design.
- Greater surface area and oil volume allows for better thermal dissipation (cooling).
STANDARD MONOTUBE COILOVER DESIGN
Supashock’s Standard Monotube Coilover design is far superior to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) designs. The monotube configuration offers greater piston area, oil capacity and separation of oil and gas, giving you greater performance, strength, cooling and adjustability. Supashock performance coilovers offer consistent and tunable damping compared to a twin-tube damper commonly found in OEM designs.

Please note:
- Pillow ball upper mounts do add greater road feel for increased handling and accuracy but can result in torsional spring noise occasionally. There is no detriment to the function or safety of coilovers. Returns under warranty for noises associated with the pillow ball upper mounts will not be considered. For investigative work related to coilover noise, workshop rates will apply if products are found to have no issues.
- In some vehicle set-ups, the spring will be separate from the damper. This design will sometimes be respected, and then you will receive a damper and spring separately. Height will generally be changed via a supplied adjustable spring seat.
- Photos shown are inverted monotube design front and rear coilovers. Actual product will vary depending on vehicle model and coilover configuration chosen.

Unique Progressive-Digressive Damper Curve
Supashock’s unique progressive-to-digressive damping curve offers significant benefits by transitioning from progressive damping in soft settings to digressive damping in stiffer settings.
Enhanced Comfort in Soft Settings
Progressive damping provides smoother resistance at lower speeds, effectively absorbing small bumps and irregularities, ensuring a comfortable ride when you want it.
Improved Performance and Control in Stiff Settings
Digressive damping at higher stiffness settings delivers strong force at low shaft speeds, enhancing control for body roll, braking, and cornering. The damping force plateaus, preventing excessive harshness and allowing quick suspension reactions.
Ride Height Adjustment
Supashock Street & Track Coilovers feature fully-threaded damper bodies.
This allows you to adjust your overall damper length via the strut foot, and adjust your ride height via the spring perch.
Adjusting the spring perch alters the pre-load on the spring, however does not alter the spring rate which is determined by the design of the spring itself.
Monotube Damper Design
Supashock's advanced monotube damper gives you damping technology derived from nearly two-decades of V8 Supercars development.
Monotube damping separates the damper oil from the high-pressure nitrogen gas. If the two were able to mix (as they do in twin-tube dampers), the gas will cavitate within the oil causing 'damper fade,' severely impacting performance.
For ultimate performance, choose Supashock's Inverted Monotube damper option (pictured), available on selected vehicle models.
The inverted strut increases the rigidity of the unit, giving greater stength and performance.
